Honestly, if you're looking for Star Wars content on the PS3, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed would be a better PS3 game for your godbrother. Earlier titles aim closer to the ~13 years of age side of the T rating while IV+ are closer to the ~16 years of age side of the T rating. From there, IV was rated CERO C (15+) for just sexual content (even though the violence level was the same), and everything V onward was rated CERO D (17+) for sexual content (even though the violence level was the same).Īs such, the T rating for the Soul series is GENERALLY well warranted. In Japan, the Soul Series in general was rated CERO B (12+) up until (and including) III and Legends for violence and sexual content (though CERO wasn't founded until around 2002, so age ratings for early titles are for their re-releases).Most (if not all) Soulcalibur games from 2003 onward (since that's when PEGI was founded) were rated PEGI 16+ in Europe. All Soulcalibur games were rated T for Teen in the USA, with all games having violence and stuff like suggested themes. IV was when the series started focusing more on the sex appeal than before (the series always had it, but it got more pronounced over the years).įor reference, here's how the Soul series generally gets rated in each major region: They're also more suitable for someone who is turning 10 as those games were rated CERO B (equivalent to Age 12+) in Japan while IV was rated CERO C (basically Age 15+). If his PS3 is one of those that can play PS2 discs (the original model as the Slim and Super Slim models gutted PS2 capabilities), then I'd recommend either Soulcalibur II or Soulcalibur III instead as those two games are complete packages. Yoda's a terrible character in IV anyways as he's both a low tier character (he does very little damage) and very annoying to fight against (you can't grab him, and all highs miss him due to how short he is unless if he's jumping), so not being able to get his DLC now these days ain't the worst thing in the world. Soulcalibur IV's DLC is now unable to be purchased, so you'll have to pick either the Xbox 360 version for Yoda and the Apprentice or the PS3 version for Darth Vader and the Apprentice (besides hacking with a jailbroken PS3).
